WHY IT’S NOT OKAY FOR COACHES TO CURSE YOUR CHILDREN…

Aldtric Johnson M.A.'s avatarGrowing In Yahuah

picsart_12-13-02257329204.jpg

Isn’t amazing how people give coaches a pass? They don’t want the teacher or police to ‘curse’ at their children, even if they are disruptive. They don’t even want the preacher to speak too ‘harshly’ to or of their children – but the let the coach say what he or she wants and how he or she wants. Some will even let a coach hit their children…hit not spank.

Have you ever heard anyone say they had to talk to someone ‘on their level’ to reach them, especially when they are disruptive or have harsh speech themselves.

God says very clearly that we are not to allow corrupt communication to come out of our mouths…

This applies to coaches too!

4 INSTANCES WHEN IT’S BEST TO USE BAD GRAMMAR…

Aldtric Johnson M.A.'s avatarGrowing In Yahuah

picsart_03-07-011500137214.jpg

It seems that social media has revealed how much some people didn’t pay attention when they were being taught grammar in school. It’s amazing how people sometimes type the way they talk. Plus, understanding grammar and sentence structure is key to getting good understanding of scripture.

Think about how much one comma totally changes the meaning of this sentence…

Luke 23:43  (NKJV)

43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

Luke 23:43 New King James Version (NKJV)

43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you today, you will be with Me in Paradise.”

The first example is written in the NKJV. It implies that you will be in paradise today.

In the second example, I moved the comma. It implies that the statement is being said today, but not necessarily that you will be in paradise today.

Saying or…

WHY THE MARK OF THE BEAST WON’T BE A CHIP, BAR CODE OR TATTOO…

shopping-148192_1280 Quick and to the point…

Even those who don’t believe in God have heard of it. The mark of the beast. The ‘mark’ that many will submit to showing that they have rejected Christ and accepted the antichrist.

The purpose of this quick post isn’t to discuss whether or not the church will still be on earth when it takes place. But, what will it actually be. This could be a long post, but I’m going to keep it short so you can digest it…and pray about it.

There are those who talk about a chip being implanted, a bar code that will be required for buying, selling and living everyday life. There are others who speak of a literal…

THE BLESSING IN WHEN SOMEONE IS TRYING TO ‘USE YOU’…

Please don’t forget this…

Aldtric Johnson M.A.'s avatarGrowing In Yahuah

wp-1492609663880.

The Pharisees, scribes, and religious leaders were constantly trying to trap and accuse Jesus. Many times that was their sole reason for going to the synagogue when they knew He was there (Mark 3:1-6).

In Luke 14 Jesus was at the home of one of the rulers of the Pharisees. You didn’t get into the home of a ruler without an invitation. This was an invitation only ‘event’ which is confirmed in verse 7 of this chapter ( So He told a parable to those who were invited, when He noted how they chose the best places, saying to them…). There was also a man with extreme swelling of his arms and legs (dropsy) there, but why was he invited too? Why was this man who was looked down upon invited to the ruler’s home? My thought is they were using him just so see if Jesus would heal him on…

MAY THIS ALWAYS REMIND YOU OF GOD’S LOVE FOR YOU…

The lyrics to my wife’s single, “Thanks FOR LOVING ME TOO” are a beautiful walk through that poetically gives examples of God’s love.

Noah’s family You saved
It rained forty days
The Hebrews were slaves
and Moses you raised
to lead them to that land
you promised Abraham.
You called him Your friend.
You showed Your love to him

Your Word tells me that Your love is so true.
I wanna thank You Lord for loving me too.

So many people You healed
Five thousand bellies You filled
A woman in adultery one day
You sent her accusers away
She stood alone with You Lord
You said go and sin no more
You forgave her sins
You do the same for all men.

Your word tells me that Your love is so true
And I want to thank You Lord for loving me too.

Thanks for loving me,
Thanks for loving me too. (Repeat)

Thanks for loving me too
When I acted like a fool You saw me through
When at times, I get caught up in the world
You let me know…I’m still your girl.

Thanks for loving me,
Thanks for loving me too. (Repeat)

Thanks for loving me too
Your Word tells me, Your love is true.
You’ve shown your love, since the world begun
In the fullness of time…You gave me your Son.

Thanks for loving me
Thanks for loving me too. (Repeat)

Thank you Lord, for loving me. (Repeat with ad lib)

Thank you Lord,
For loving me…(Repeat with ad lib)

WOULD YOU ‘REALLY’ DO MORE IF YOU HAD MORE?

What if God gave you unlimited financial resources…what would you do?

What good would you do?

Who would you help?

What if God gave you a voice…a platform to speak to the world?

What would you say?

What causes would you speak out for?

How responsible would you be?

What if you had unlimited free time?

No job to report to?

No clock to punch?

What would you do with your time?

How would you spend it?

You can tell what you WOULD DO THEN by WHAT YOU’RE DOING with the financial resources you have now, whether it’s little or much.

Even if you’re living paycheck to paycheck, you have the means to help someone in need…your $5 gift or meal can change someone’s world.

You can tell by what you’re doing with your platform now.

Even though Peter followed from a distance…he still followed. Even though he denied Him, he didn’t forsake Him.

Be encouraged even if you aren’t where you should be in your relationship with God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

If you have allowed distractions to create distance between you and God.

Even though you may be following from a distance…

Not praying as much as you should.

Not reading His Word as much as you should.

Not attending worship as much as you should.

Just discrouaged, but…

At least you haven’t forsaken Him.

WHEN WE MISMANAGE OUR BLESSINGS…

Remember when Yeshua fed over 5000 people with just two fish and five loaves of bread that they had more left over than what they had in the beginning…
Matthew 14:13-21 (NKJV)

13 When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. 14 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. 15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”

16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.

The LORD performed this miracle so they would have over flow from what seemed to be not enough.

So many times in our lives we may feel that we don’t have ‘enough’.

But, we need to…

  1. Be thankful for what God has provided.
  2. Pray for the wisdom to effectively manage what He had provided.
  3. Have the discipline to manage what God has provided according to His wisdom.

wp-1488387186094.jpgOne of the things that reminds me that our bodies and our flesh are temporary is when we stink. As good as you may smell right now, think of the effort we as humans have to put into avoiding smelling bad.

We have to bathe regularly…

Brush and floss our teeth…

Shampoo our hair…

Apply deodorants…

Perfumes…

Colognes…

We as humans have to work at smelling good. Whether we admit it or not, we all smell bad sometimes.

Sometimes if we have been working hard…been sick…or whatever, we can begin to smell unpleasant…YOU STINK.

Have you ever been in need of ‘freshening up’ and were actually able to smell yourself?

You may have raised up your arm, caught a whiff of your own breath…or whatever and said to yourself , “Wow! I stink!

What’s interesting is that if you don’t get an opportunity to bathe soon, you won’t notice the…

TODAY IS ‘TRAINING DAY’ FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE…

20161005_221029.pngPsalm 144:1
“Blessed be the Lord my Rock,
Who trains my hands for war,
And my fingers to do battle”

Men and women of God, TODAY IS TRAINING DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! God is training you for spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:12).

Today is another opportunity to get familiar with and get better at using your weapons (Ephesians 6:10-18).

You will be confronted with situations and challenges that will determine not only your future, but the future of those you love and the future of your fruit, you know, those who God assigns to you along the way.

Just like in the movie starring Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, the new detective (Ethan Hawke) was assigned to a veteran detective (Denzel Washington) for training. The new detective had a good heart, but he was confronted with and partnered with the devil (Denzel) on his first day.

The entire day was a string of situations that required Ethan Hawke’s character to make the right decision, and the decision wasn’t always easy. At the end of the day, the decisions made by both determined their futures, and the devil tried to sabotage the new detective’s future.

Ethan Hawke’s character’s decisions saved his life, while Denzel Washington’s character’s decisions cost him his.

Who will you be at the end of the day today? Ethan Hawke or Denzel Washington?

The devil is trying to sabotage your day. Just as He did Jesus in the wilderness in Matthew 4:1-11. He is trying to get you to make decisions in one day to high-jack your future. He goes about as roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). He is trying to steal, kill and destroy your testimony, your fruit and your future. Jesus, Yeshua, the Living Word, has come that you can live an abundant life (John 10:10). But, that abundant life shouldn’t be just thought of carnally. God had called us to be abundant in fruit for the Kingdom, in making disciples and Kingdom building. He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

So be encouraged! You are guaranteed the victory if you walk in the Spirit and are led to make the right decisions throughout the day (Galatians 5:16-18).

Remember, that one bad decision at the end of the day can negate all the good decisions made earlier that day.

God is your training officer. He is preparing you for battle (Psalm 144:1). TODAY is your TRAINING DAY. Be strong in the Lord, fight the enemy with the word of God, just as Jesus did in Matthew 4:1-11, and the enemy will flee…but just as he left Jesus until another opportune time, he will be back….

Tomorrow will be TRAINING DAY too.

BEFORE YOU BLAME OR ACCUSE SOMEONE, THINK ABOUT THIS…

Our culture today is quick to place blame, accuse and find fault. Too many times people don’t want solutions, resolution or responsibility, they just want someone to blame.

But, be careful when you find yourself ready to blame someone or accuse someone.

NAMES MATTER (WHY WE SHOULD STOP CALLING EASTER…EASTER)

wp-1488719614942.jpg

As we come upon the season of celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I’m compelled to share what He placed in my heart years ago…my annual reminder.

John 4:24 proclaims that God is a spirit and we are commanded to worship Him in Spirit and Truth….Spirit and Truth.

God also commanded in Joshua 23:7 that we are not to make mention of or swear by the names of pagan gods, particularly those that were worshiped by the people who surrounded Israel.

 Joshua 23: (NKJV)

and lest you go among these nations, these who remain among you. You shall not MAKE MENTION OF THE NAME of their gods, nor cause anyone to swear by them; you shall not serve them nor bow down to them,

Some of those names were Baal and Ashtoreth (Judges 2:12-15). One of Israel’s greatest sins was when they “did evil in the eyes of the Lord; they forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and Asherahs”(Judges 3:7).

Well here we are in the 21st Century and the enemy knows you love the Lord and he can’t get you to reject Him for an idol, but he did cleverly find a way to defile our worship and get us to commit blasphemy every time we refer to the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Yeshua,  Jesus Christ.

In fact, if you ask why do we call the celebration of our Lord, Easter, many Christians will admit they don’t know or have never even thought about it.

The name Easter is derived from the name of an Anglo-Saxon/Norse goddess named Ostre or Eostre. This is the same ‘goddess’ that God forbade Israel to mention her name. The name is different in different cultures…Astarte, Ishtar, wife of Baal, Ashoreth, Aphrodite, Easter.

Even though the names are different, in all of these cultures ‘she’ was worshiped as a fertility goddess.

What were some of the symbols of her worship?

Yes, you already know…eggs, and rabbits.

What better way for Satan to convince well-meaning Christians to disobey God by convincing them that they are depriving their children of some joy to keep these symbols alive for thousands of years.

The name Easter has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus. It doesn’t even remotely make sense, but you can’t get well-meaning Christians to stop using it because it’s so ingrained in the way we think (head) and the way we do things (hands) (Revelations 13:16). Remember that God warned us through the apostle John that the spirit of the antichrist was already here and working (1 John 4:3, 2 Thessalonians 2:7).

 Revelation 13:16(NKJV)

16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,

But some may say it doesn’t matter what you call the celebration of His resurrection as long as you know the meaning…

Think of all of the names God changed in the bible. Abraham, Sarah, Jacob, Paul etc…

If names don’t matter then why won’t most men take their wife’s maiden name when they marry?

If names don’t matter what man would allow his wife to keep her ex-husbands last name?

If names don’t matter, then why is it important for us to be called by our name correctly?

Don’t you prefer being called by your own name?

Mary and Joseph were commanded to name Mary’s son Jesus, Yeshua, because He will save his people from their sins (Jesus, Joshua, Yeshua all mean Savior, God Saves or God, Yahweh is salvation, but that is a different discussion).

Names matter!

Using the name of another goddess to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and convincing Christians to defile his worship with symbols of her worship is blasphemy, and it is in direct rebellion to what God commanded us NOT to do (Joshua 23:7).

In fact, when you think about it, calling it EASTER Sunday is no different from calling it, Mohammed Sunday or Buddha Sunday.

Let me be clear.

I think it’s a wonderful thing to celebrate His death, burial and resurrection, but we must do it in Spirit and Truth.

Call it Resurrection Day, Resurrection Celebration, Jesus Lives Day you don’t even HAVE to celebrate it at all…but please let’s STOP calling it Easter.

Because names matter to us, and they matter to God.

Ephesians 1:17 (NIV)

17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

Aldtric Johnson M.A.'s avatarGrowing In Yahuah

The American Civil War was a horrible time in the past, and it’s legacy and how people feel it should be remembered causes division today. Yes, it should be remembered, but not celebrated.

There has been much controversyand disagreement concerning efforts to remove certain images of the Confederacy from public places and entities.

Those who defend these images claim they are historic symbols, and they assert that those who want them removed don’t understand, know or appreciate history.

The problem with too many people who claim to be Christian is that they celebrate aspects of their culture, past and history that they should be ashamed of.

People quickly say, “You can’t erase history.” “You can’t erase the past”.

The truth is that EVERY culture and even family has aspect of their past that they should REMEMBER, but not celebrate and glorify.

When we feel our efforts are going unrewarded, we can get the point that we’re tired of trying.

Have you ever been there?

Are you there right now?

Does it seem that your best isn’t good enough? Ready to give up?

Think about this. Jesus never ‘tried’ to do anything. The apostles didn’t try to establish the early church.

Jesus just did it. He taught. He preached. He healed. He delivered. He just did it. He did not seek approval, and when He did get approval, He didn’t put too much faith in it…

CLIQUE-‘ISH’ IN THE CHURCH! YEP, THAT’S A EUPHEMISM…

wp-1472429772349.jpg

The enemy doesn’t mind you going to church as long as you take him with you. He wants to distract and infect your worship. One way he achieves this is through division in the local church. Division in the Body of Christ is strictly forbidden, and is sin…

Galations 5:19-20
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, FACTIONS

1 Corinthians 1:10-13
10 “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

We as people tend to want to be in groups of people with either common interests, or people who can benefit us. Sometimes these groups can form in the church with an unwillingness to let others in…that’s a CLIQUE (FACTION) .

Church can become like high school – The Cool Kids, The Jocks, The Nerds…

Church can become like the outside world – The Haves and The Have Nots…

Church can become like the secular (or Christian) music industry – Pastor, his Entourage, his Groupies and Fans…

Are you in one of these CLIQUES? These are all distractions from the enemy to make our churches carnal, unfruitful and unproductive. Don’t let your small group, your ministry group, your choir, your circle of friends be a CLIQUE in disguise. This mess even tried to creep into the early church…

1 Corinthians 11:18-22
18 “For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. 19 For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you. 20 Therefore when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper. 21 For in eating, each one takes his own supper ahead of others; and one is hungry and another is drunk. 22 What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you.”

The Body of Christ is one body with many members (1 Corinthians 12:12) and EVERBODY IS SOMEBODY! Even though we as people tend to be CLIQUE-ISH…. we need to keep that CLIQUE-ISH out of God’s church.

As he drove it home, he stopped to get gas and the car wouldn’t start. Wow! He had to have the car towed to the shop. Have you ever been so angry with someone that you didn’t want an apology from them?

“I don’t wanna hear it!” “I’m not ready for that right now!” “You don’t mean it!”

We must always be ready to forgive as God is always ready to forgive us.

Hear are 5 reasons why we sometimes don’t forgive…

FORGIVING THEM TAKES AWAY OUR EXCUSE TO BE ANGRY

Sometimes when we’re honest with ourselves, we want to remain angry about what they have done. True forgiveness takes away our excuse to be angry at them.

Ephesians 4:31 (NKJV)

31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, [a]clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

REMAINING ANGRY CAN MAKE US FEEL POWERFUL

When we’ve been hurt, it can make us feel weak, vulnerable and foolish. However, our anger can give us a perverse feeling of power and strength over the person or…

WHEN YOUR CHILD MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU’RE A BAD PARENT…

I’m sure all parents have this moment because I feel it comes from God. Those moments when your children make you feel like you’re not a good parent.

They may make you feel like you’re not doing enough for them.

They may make you feel as though you owe them more.

They may make you feel like you’re being unfair, unreasonable and unloving.

They may make you feel as though you are not appreciated.

Sometimes they can make you feel as though you have failed as a parent.

For whatever reason, if you let them, your kids can make you feel like a bad parent.

Well, the reason I think God allows that is for a moment of self-examination about the parent’s relationship with God. OH! NOW, I SEE HOW GOD FEELS…(HORIZONTAL EXAMPLES OF OUR VERTICAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD)

DO YOU EVER MAKE GOD FEEL LIKE HE’S NOT A GOOD…

One morning not long ago I prayed, “Lord, I need a miracle!”

As I prayed God reminded me of something powerful. I’m going to share with you verbatim how it went, and I hope it blesses you as much as it blessed me….

Lord, I NEED a miracle…

Lord I WANT a miracle….

LORD I AM a miracle….

Never Mind…THANK YOU JESUS!

Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.

4 SIMPLE THINGS THAT CAN MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE BETTER IMMEDIATELY…

The other day as my wife and I were getting ready for work, she asked me to get her clothes out of the dryer for her. We were both getting ready, but I stopped what I was doing and did it. The simplest gestures can be  the most powerful, especially when both husband and wife are working.

Do something simple every day to make life easier for one another. Bring him a cool beverage. Watch something that she wants to watch…with her. Iron his clothes for him. Go shopping with her.

The following four gestures can make your marriage better. Nothing deep or romantic here, but doing it will make romance come easier.

1. HELP EACH OTHER OFTEN

2. DO WHAT COMES EASY

3. HONESTLY WORK ON WHAT’S DIFFICULT FOR YOU

4. BE PATIENT WITH WHAT’S DIFFICULT FOR ONE ANOTHER

Following these simple tips will make each day better, and difficult days more bearable.

 1 Peter 3:1a (NKJV)

“Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands…”

 1 Peter 3:7

“Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife…”

HOW TO GIVE GOD A ‘HOLY HUG’…

Praise is so powerful. And, I’m not talking about using it as a tool of manipulation to get God to bless us, but I’m talking about a powerful way to BLESS HIM.

Psalm 34:1 (NKJV)

I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Yes, God wants to be blessed by us, just as much as we want to be blessed by Him. How can you bless God who has all power, possesses all things and has control of all things? The same way a baby blesses a parent when he or she reaches up to them.

Why does a baby reach up to his or her parent?

To get their attention…

To be picked up…

To be hugged…

God wants our affection. Our affection is a blessing to Him. Every parent wants to be ‘loved on’ by their children.

There are few things more affectionate, more intimate, more touching, more empowering, than a well-timed hug.

Have you ever had someone give you a warm affectionate hug? Without saying one word that sincere hug said “I love you!” “I’m so glad you’re in my life!” “I appreciate you!”

A hug is a beautiful way of saying that “We are one”.

Yes, we praise God with the fruit of our lips.

Yes, we praise God in a song.

Yes, we praise God through beautiful music.

Yes, we can even praise Him with a dance…

But, there is something special about lifting our hands up to Him in praise.

Lifting up our hands (just like that baby) is almost like we’re waving to get God’s attention, “Lord! Here I am! See me!?!”

Lifting up our hands is an act of surrender and letting go of what we are holding to reach out to Him.

Lifting up our hands is stretching them forward, just as our Lord, Yeshua Jesus Christ had His hands extended and stretched when He was nailed to the cross.

Lifting up our hands toward God is an expression of affection.

Our God so big that we can’t get our arms around Him, so it’s our way of giving Him a holy hug.

If we are alone it’s an intimate personal hug. If we are in corporate worship, it’s a powerful group hug.

So take some time today to love on our Heavenly Father. Lift up your hands to Him and bless Him with a Holy hug!

Look at how we are encouraged to let go of all wrath and all doubt and lift up our holy hands to the God of our salvation.

1 Timothy 2:8 (NKJV)

I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;

Give God a holy hug!

JESUS’ SILENT YEARS: WHY I THINK NOTHING MIRACULOUS HAPPENED…

Aldtric Johnson M.A.'s avatarGrowing In Yahuah

We all notice the unmistakable silence of Yeshua, Christ Jesus from 12 years of age until 30.

Luke 2:41-52 (NKJV)

41 His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42 And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. 43 When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother[a] did not know it;44 but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances. 45 So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. 46 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.
