GODLY MARRIAGE: HOW SEX IS SUBMISSION AND HONOR PERFECTED (Graphic but Holy)โ€ฆ

wp-1491503123869.

Sex is a beautiful, rewarding blessing given to man and woman, but meant to be enjoyed responsibly within the bounds of marriage. His word makes that clear in both the Old and New Testaments…and itโ€™s joys are evident throughoutโ€ฆ

Proverbs 5:18-19 (NKJV)

18 Let your fountain be blessed,
And rejoice with the wife of your youth.
19 As a loving deer and a graceful doe,
Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
And always be enraptured with her love

 Song of Solomon 1:2 (NKJV)

2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouthโ€”
For your[b] love is better than wine.

 1 Corinthians 7:1-3 (NKJV)

7 Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband

It is intended to be the highest level of human intimacy physically, mentally, emotionally and even spiritually.

It is a connection that makes two become one, and the only diversion that our God who made creation in consistent numerical order diverts from the norm. Itโ€™s when we multiply by adding, and the product/sum is unique in all mathematics (when 1 + 1 =3).

Genesis 1:28 (NKJV)

28 Then God BLESSED them, and God said to them, โ€œBe FRUITFUL and MULTIPLY; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.โ€

His holy intent for this union is perverted when consummated outside the bond of marriageโ€ฆ

1 Corinthians 6:16 (NKJV)

16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For โ€œthe two,โ€ He says, โ€œshall become one flesh.โ€[a]

 Hebrews 13:4 (NKJV)

4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

God created us physiologically and psychologically so that sex would be the perfection of the submission and honor that He commands from wives and husbands respectfullyโ€ฆ

WIVES

 1 Peter 3:1a

Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbandsโ€ฆ

Think of how God created woman so sexual intercourse can only take place through her perfect submission. Graphic but true: as the King James Version puts it, a man can only โ€˜know his wifeโ€™ (Genesis 4:1) unless he physically accesses her most intimate spot. Where is this located? Between her legsโ€ฆnot in the frontโ€ฆnot in the back, but between her legs closer to the middle. The ONLY way he can get to that spot is if she allows him. This access is the ultimate act of submission, granted most often by her opening her legs to him. She must open herself to receive her husband into her. But, her psychological state of mind must be submitted also. Even if he is allowed physical access, she also has to submit psychologically to allow arousal. Her mind must be submitted to her husband, as well as attracted to him physically in order for her to most intimate spot to โ€˜reactโ€™ properly to accommodate him to both their enjoyment ( I think you know what I mean). God created woman, so that total physical and mental submission is required for sex.

HUSBANDS

 1 Peter 3:7a (NKJV)

7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vesselโ€ฆ

God commanded that husband honor their wives. Of course man is the stronger sex. As much as a woman was created for submission for sex to take place, a man is strong enough to force himself on her. When a man forces himself on a woman sheโ€™s not submitting and heโ€™s not honoring, married or not, this is rape. God commands the husband to honor her as the weaker person in the relationship. When a man submits to his wife by restraining his strength and allowing her to submit, this is one way he honors her as the weaker vessel. Not by forcing her legs open. Not by forcing himself inside her. Only by allowing her to become aroused through physical and mental submission and physical attraction.

Submission and honor. Honor and submission. Without both, sex becomes something dreadful rather than something beautiful. It becomes a curse rather than a blessing. But, when it works perfectly, itโ€™s not only how Godโ€™s wisdom provided for us to be fruitful and multiply, itโ€™s also a wonderful gift to help keep couples close and marriages strong. For more on this please readโ€ฆ.IF THE โ€˜BIG Oโ€™ WAS TOO BIG (GODโ€™S WISDOM)โ€ฆ

Submit to one another. Honor one another. And,

3 THINGS GODLY ADVISORS SHOULD CONSIDER BEFORE RESIGNING BECAUSE OF TRUMP’S HORRIBLE REACTION…

wp-image-1284271824

Two of my fears of Trump occupying office of President of The United States were

1) The fact that based on his actions and behavior, from my view, does not display (1) Fruit of the Spirit…

Galatians 5:22-23ย  (NKJV)

22ย But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23ย gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

2) He displays a very low-level of emotional intelligence…

Emotional Intelligence was coined by researchers Peter Salavoy and John Mayer, and made more well-known by author Dan Goleman in his 1996 book. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to identify, recognize, understand and manage one’s own emotions, as well as those of others.

Many of Donald Trump’s advisors have been resigning based after his choice of words and reaction to the unrest in Charlottesville VA. I’m not going to re-tell the story, but he asserted that those who counter-protested Neo-Nazi and White Supremist protesters were just as bad, and stated that there are “fine people on both sides”. It wasn’t just the fact that Trump said what he said, but it was also the obvious lack of emotional intelligence he displayed during his press conference, as he has in the past.

His statement and behavior repulsed many people, including me. As a result, many of his advisors resigned from their appointed positions. My first reaction was, Yes! What an awesome statement and assertion of values.

However, then I began to think about the word of God. What’s are good examples of this in the bible?

Hmmmm….

Consider thisโ€ฆ

God strategically placed Joseph as second in command in Egypt to serve under a pagan Pharoah who oppressed the children of Israel and considered Egyptians to be superior. Josephโ€™s position allowed him to eventually save his family. (Genesis Chapters 37-50).

God strategically placed Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah (Belteshazzar, ย Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego) as advisors to Nebuchadnezzar by having him select them himself. He was a pagan king, who oppressed the children of Israel. He considered the Babylonians to be superior, but still requested the โ€˜bestโ€™ of the children of Israel to ‘serve’ (or advise) in His palace. Daniel at one time was appointed the third highest ruler in the kingdom…the pagan kingdom (Daniel Chapter 1).

Based on this, there 3 things I think that godly corporate and spiritual advisors who are opposed to Trumpโ€™s words, behavior and policies should consider before resigning.

WAS TRUMP SELECTING THEM GODโ€™S WAY OF PLACING THEM THERE?

Donald Trump selected these men and women. They didn’t apply for their positons. I don’t know what his motives were, but he did select them. Joseph, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah didn’t ‘apply’ for their positions either. God placed them there…even if it was through captivity. But, God was looking at the big picture. He placed them there for His purpose, and to save their own people. Had they refused to serve…even if by death, they could not have done what God had for them to do.

THEIR INFLUENCE MAY BE GODโ€™S WAY OF ENSURING HIS VOICE IS HEARD

Josesph’s, Daniel’s, Hananiah’s, Mishael’s and Azariah’s presence in these pagan leaders’ adminstrations was God’s presence in their administrations. Could this be true for a truly godly advisor chosen by Trump? Remember, Potiphar’s house was blessed just by Joseph being there…

Genesis 39:5 (NKJV)

5ย So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptianโ€™s house for Josephโ€™s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had in the house and in the field.

If Trump decides to listen to them…If he does in fact take their advice, then that’s God’s way of getting His voice and influence in that administration. I know, I know…many people say he’s not listening to his advisors. He’s doing what he wants to do, and even belittling those in his own adminstration who oppose him.

EVEN IF TRUMP DOESNโ€™T LISTEN TO THEM, THEYโ€™RE HOLDING A SPOT

Even if Trump doesn’t take their advise, these individuals are still holding a spot that could be held by someone who agrees with Trumps ideology and behavior. If they resign, he can replace them with someone who would help further damage the godly character of the country.

People need to be led by God for themselves, considering the Word of God, as to what decision they make. However, sometimes God places His people close to those not being led by Him for a reason.

NOW, DO YOU SEE ONE REASON WHY GOD FORBADE GRAVEN IMAGES…

Confederate_Monuments-(6)

Exodus 20:4-5 (NKJV)

4 โ€œYou shall not make for yourself a carved imageโ€”any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me

โ€œYou canโ€™t erase history!โ€ Thatโ€™s what so many so passionately proclaim when they protest the removal of confederate monuments and symbols from public places.

Think of all the historical figures and events that you remember without a statue or monument. Monuments aren’t necessarily about remembering…they’re about celebrating, honoring and even worship.

But, if God forbade us from erecting an image to represent Him, why would we need one to remember a man or woman.

When God forbade graven images, it was about more than just worship. Notice that Exodus 20:4 was about forbidding to make them. Then, Verse 5 addressed bowing down and worshipping them. Does this imply that itโ€™s a sin to make them, then itโ€™s a further sin to worship themโ€ฆHey, Iโ€™m just asking.

God knows how we are. He knows that people have the tendency to be more caught up in the symbol that what it actually represents.

Think about how many people wear crosses, but donโ€™t live a lifestyle or really particularly care about what that represents.

People are ready to kill over statues, flags and songs.

Being that passionate about a statue, flag or monument is worship.

Iโ€™m a Black man and I donโ€™t need a statue to remember who Dr. Martin Luther King was. God gave the Jews the Pentateuch, which is their history. When the children of Israel erected a golden calf to represent and remember the God that brought them out of Egypt, He commanded it be torn down (Exodus 32).

To say removing a monument erases history is very simplistic thinking.

If God doesnโ€™t need a monument to represent or acknowledge Him, then why should anyone else.

Now do you see why He forbade graven images.

WHY THE ONEโ€™S YOU LOVE MOST SOMETIMES DONโ€™T UNDERSTAND YOUโ€ฆ

wp-1478202922810.jpg

Itโ€™s tough when you try to talk to the oneโ€™s closest to you and they just donโ€™t get itโ€ฆ

They donโ€™t understand how near and dear โ€˜itโ€™ is to your heart.

They donโ€™t understand how important it is to you.

They just canโ€™t grasp how you really feel!

They donโ€™t get how hurt you are!

But, theyโ€™re closest to you. Theyโ€™re your mother. Theyโ€™re your father. Theyโ€™re your husband. Your wife. Your sister. Your brother. Theyโ€™re your closest friend. They are SUPPOSED to understand everything about me! Right?

How can they love me the way they say they do? How can they care about meโ€ฆand not understand how I feel? Are they really listening? Donโ€™t they see whatโ€™s really going on? Why don’t they ‘get it’?!

If youโ€™re honest with yourself, there are times that you couldnโ€™t always understand what was going on with your loved onesโ€ฆno matter how passionately they tried to explain it.

Why?

Because sometimes God has to remind us that He is the ONLY one who truly and totally understands us.

If we arenโ€™t careful, we can begin to make those we love โ€˜little idolsโ€™. We can put them before God. This is one of the reasons that the Lord saidโ€ฆ

Matthew 10:37 ย (NKJV)

37ย He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

He has to remind us who really is supposed to come first.

How many times have you prayed about something, but you werenโ€™t truly satisfied until you talked about it or confirmed it with a โ€˜real personโ€™. Yes, God sometimes confirms things through people, butโ€ฆ

There are some things He wants us to trust with Him only.

There are some times that He wants you to prove to yourself how real He is in your life (because He already knows). There are some things that He wants you to trulyโ€ฆleave with Him.

But, how does God prove that He understands? That He hears? That he cares?

Well here’s how He’s proved it to me…

I canโ€™t tell you how many times Iโ€™ve had a concern. I may have talked to someone about it and they didnโ€™t understand. Or, I didnโ€™t want to talk to anyone about it because I felt they wouldnโ€™t understand. Thenโ€ฆ

As I read my bible and the very passage of scripture I was reading spoke specifically to my issue.

Or, I heard a sermon that spoke directly to what I was going through. The minister may have even quoted the same scriptures I had studied.

Or, I read a blog post. Saw a bumper sticker. Saw come type of unsolicited confirmation of what was on my heart.

God has some pretty amazing ways of letting us know He understands. Itโ€™s up to us to realize that itโ€™s really Him.

Itโ€™s good to have loved ones and friends in our lives to lean on. And Itโ€™s important that we be there for one another. Try to understand one another. Be a shoulder to lean on. Itโ€™s important that we be friendly and stick close to one another.

There are two things we must always rememberโ€ฆ

You donโ€™t always have to understand someone to love them!

Andโ€ฆ

Proverbs 18:24 ย (NKJV)

ย 24ย A manย who hasย friends must himself be friendly,[a]
But there is a friendย whoย sticks closer than a brother.

3 THINGS TO DO WHEN SOMEONE QUESTIONS YOUR LOVE…

wp-1490415505182.jpg

Has anyone ever questioned your love for them based on what you’ve done or haven’t done? Based on what you’re doing or aren’t doing? Based on what someone else has done or hasn’t done? Based on what someone else is doing or isn’t doing?

It hurts when you know what’s in your heart and someone questions it or challenges it.

Itโ€™s important to remember that saying whatโ€™s in someoneโ€™s heart is judging. Be careful when you judge what’s in someone’s heart, because when you do you’re opening the door for someone to do the same thing to you.

Matthew 7:1-2 (NKJV)

ย โ€œJudge not, that you be not judged.ย 2ย For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

You know what you feel…your level of devotion…your level of sacrifice. And, based on their perspective they question your love.

But, before you get too upset at someone for questioning your love there are three things that you should do.

1. ASK YOURSELF ARE THEY RIGHT

Many times it stings when people question our loveโ€ฆour devotionโ€ฆour loyalty. But, before we get too upset we must ask ourselves have we given them a good reason to feel that way. Even though you may not agree with their reasoning. They feel the way they feel and thereโ€™s not much you can go about it. Sometimes people can be unfair, but sometimes they may be right. What have you done to hurt them? What have you not done to be in their corner. These are questions that we must ask ourselves. We must make and effort to see things from their perspective. Even if you say, โ€œWell, I donโ€™t see why you should feel that wayโ€ or โ€œI donโ€™t see it that wayโ€โ€ฆremember, they arenโ€™t you. Just because your love โ€˜failedโ€™ in one area doesnโ€™t mean you donโ€™t love themโ€ฆbut it did fail.

2. ASK YOURSELF HAVE YOU QUESTIONED GODโ€™S LOVE

Have you questioned whether God really loves you? Whether He really cares about you? Whether He really hears your prayers or sees your pain? Have you done this?

God proved His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, while we were His enemies…He gave us His only son.

We must realize that just because we let each other down, that doesn’t mean live is absent…it just means our love isn’t perfect.

Maturing in love is a lifelong process, and even if we live to be 100 years old, we will die with our love imperfect.

Only God’s love perfect. In fact, I think He allows us to let each other down from time-to-time to remind us that ONLY His love is perfect.

3. SINCERELY PRAY FOR THEM

Yes, you should first ask yourself if they are right – but if they’re wrong… If they are unfairly judging you… itโ€™s easy to become angry and defensive. Think about Jobโ€™s friends who went to comfort him, but instead relentlessly questioned and blamed him for his calamity. They questioned his devotion and true love for God. We all know that God restored to Job everything that he lost, but only AFTER he prayed for those who contended against himโ€ฆ

Job 42:10 (NKJV)

ย And theย Lordย restored Jobโ€™s losses[a]ย when he prayed for his friends. Indeed theย Lordย gave Job twice as much as he had before

Remember when someone questions your love for them, how you react is how you prove it.

LEARN TO REST IN PEACE BEFORE YOU DIE…

wp-image-312093396

Psalm 127:2 (NKJV)

2ย It isย vain for you to rise up early,
To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows;
Forย so He gives His beloved sleep.

Are you tired? You went to bed. You had time away from work, but youโ€™re still tired? Is your mind always racing? Are you either trying to get ahead? Stay ahead? Or, catch up? Maybe youโ€™re just trying to hold it together.

So many of us our so busy. So many of us are either worried,ย stressed or obsessed.

Then what do we say when someone transitions from this lifeโ€ฆโ€Rest in Peace!โ€

I want to encourage you today to learn to rest in peace BEFORE you die!

One of the enemyโ€™s greatest manipulations is to keep us spiritually weak because we donโ€™t rest. He wants us too tired to read and study Godโ€™s word. He wants us too tired to take the time to pray before we eat our food, before we go to bed at night. He wants us too tired to go to worship.

How many times have you said, โ€œIโ€™m not going to church todayโ€ฆIโ€™m too tired!โ€

Rest is so important to God that He commanded we rest one day every week (Exodus 20:10). He told us to do no work! But, Iโ€™ve noticed that in some church cultures people will go to morning worship, then they will leave and go to another church and worship having whatโ€™s called โ€˜afternoon servicesโ€™ or โ€˜special daysโ€™โ€ฆ.Menโ€™s Day, Womenโ€™s Day etc. ย Then some will even have another service in the evening.

Just as much as it is Godโ€™s will that we donโ€™t forsake the assembling of ourselves together and that we worship regularly, itโ€™s not His will for us to spend all day in church to the point that we donโ€™t rest at all. That is establishing our own righteousness (Romans 10:3).

I have to admit when it comes to not getting enough rest. Iโ€™m guilty. Iโ€™m guilty of sometimes letting lifeโ€™s problems weigh too heavy on my mind. Iโ€™m guilty of not stopping to just do nothing and rest my mind, body and spirit

I encourage you to learn to rest in peace before you die. Learn to rest your body. Learn to rest your mind. Learn to rest you spirit. Learn to refresh yourself in Godโ€™s word and prayer. Learn to say NO. Learn to say I canโ€™t do that. Learn to say I need some time to myself. Think of how Jesus would withdraw to Himself (Luke 5:16).

The Lord has promised to help us with our โ€˜rest problemโ€ฆโ€™

Matthew 11:28New King James Version (NKJV)

28ย Come to Me, allย youย who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Learn to get yourself some rest because if you donโ€™tโ€ฆyouโ€™re being disobedient.

IS ‘OMG’ TAKING GOD’S NAME IN VAIN?(From my archives)…

wp-1492422231938.
Just say WOW instead, it takes the same number of letters.

It’s one on the most common acronyms now…OMG! The texting world has infected our day-to-day speech.

Of course you know that OMG is an acronym for “Oh My God!

These days, people very casually say “OMG” to express surprise, astonishment, amazement, shock, disbelief, etc., without any thought they are referring to God.

But, OMG isn’t just referring to God…it proclaims to “MY” God! The one true and living God!

We all know that the bible commands that we don’t take the NAME of the Lord in vain…

Exodus 20:7ย (NKJV)

7ย โ€œYou shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

…but does OMG do that? It’s not like using His name when cursing, as so many people do…is it?

Well, what is GOD’S name? God is referred to by names that convey Hisย essence…Yahweh, Elohim, I AM.

And, what is taking His name in vain? It’s MISUSING it…reducing it…blaspheming it…

But, taking His name in vain goes beyond the misuse of the combination of consonants and vowels by which He is called… but His essence, His character, His personality… His authority.

When we call Him ‘God’, we are saying who and what He is…, and that is His name.

Exodus 3:14ย (NKJV)

14ย And God said to Moses, โ€œI AM WHO I AM.โ€ And He said, โ€œThus you shall say to the children of Israel, โ€˜I AM has sent me to you.โ€™โ€

We are only to make reference to Him in respect, honor and reverence….never casually…never flippantly.

When God commanded that He be referred to only in reverence provided a necessary boundary to protect the His honor due to His name and authority.

Some expressions should only be used when we are crying out to God, in humility or with an attitude of worship.

Be careful how you say, write, type or text…

“Oh my God!”

“Oh my Lord!”

“My God!”

“Lord have mercy!”

“OMG!”

“Good God!” should only be proclaimed when you REALLY mean ‘God is good’.

Even “Hallelujah!” …Jah (Yah) in Hallelujah is referring to God. (This is said much too casually in many popular secular songs)

Too many Christians are accepting as okay being down right silly when referring to the one true living God…

“Oh Lawd!”

“Oh Lort!”

“Lawd ham mercy!”…

Are all disrespectful and beneath God’s holiness.

Think of the when Jesus cried out, “My God!” on the cross…

Matthew 27:46ย (NKJV)

46ย And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying,ย โ€œEli, Eli, lama sabachthani?โ€ that is, โ€œMy God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

Remember…you don’t have to say the horrible “GD” word to take God’s ‘name’ in vain.

Whenever you see or hear “OMG”…notice the context and ask yourself, “Did that honor God?” “Was that in humility?” “Was that necessary?”

Just say “Wow!” instead…it takes the same number of letters.

WHEN YOU AREN’T FRIENDS, BUT YOU AREN’T ENEMIES EITHER…

wp-image-1749507177jpg.jpg

This is where most people are in our lives…

We work with them…

They are our neighbors…

We like the same teams…

We have the same political opinions…

We even go to church with them.

You’re cordial. You’re polite. You can hold a conversation. You can work together towards a goal…but you definitely aren’t friends.

You don’t enjoy being together.

You don’t have any loyalty towards one another.

You don’t particularly care what they think about you.

BUT,

You don’t hate them.

You don’t work against one another.

You don’t have any ill will towards them, nor do they to you.

These are the people that we need to learn to disagree with without becoming enemies.

I pray you have at least a few good friends.

I hope you have few enemies.

But, most people you know will be neither.

Proverbs 12:26 (NKJV)

The righteous should choose his friends carefully,
For the way of the wicked leads them astray.

CELEBRATING WHAT WE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF PART 2…CHARLOTTESVILLE

I have a question for a respectful, mature discussion. I think the question is reasonable.

The chaos that erupted Charlottesville VA was over the removal of a confederate monument.

Here’s my question…

When did it become American to protest the removal of monuments that weren’t America?

We hurt each other. Sometimes intentionally and sometimes unintentionally.

Sometimes we hurt the ones we love the most.

Why?

God tells us that we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Maybe thatโ€™s the problem sometimes. Do we know how to love ourselves?

Do we love ourselves as we should?

Think of all of the things you have doneโ€ฆ

All of the places you have goneโ€ฆ

All of the things you have said that werenโ€™t good for you.

Think of all the things that people eat, drink, consume that arenโ€™t good for them.

Think of all the situations people subject themselves to, fully knowing itโ€™s not good for them.

We put ourselves in unhealthy relationships.

We hurt ourselves for instant gratification.

We subject ourselves to harm physically, emotionally and spirituallyโ€ฆno one else has to do it, we do it to ourselves.

Maybe thatโ€™s the problem. We hurt eachโ€ฆ

FIRE & FURY…DOES GOD BACK UP THAT THREAT?

Psalm 33:16 (ESV)

The king is not saved by his great army;
a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.

I very rarely make political comments…only when I see a biblical connection or implication.

It’s amazing how many Christians lean to their own understanding rather than trusting God when it comes to national security.

It’s amazing to hear Christians support juvenile threats from two leaders who position themselves like teenagers fighting over a girl.

Returning threats of “Fire and Fury” is not biblical.

The bible talks about reasoning together (Isaiah 1:18).ย In other words…diplomacy.

The bible talks about turning the other cheek rather than retaliating when being prodded (Matthew 5:38-40).

The bible talks about NOT returning evil for evil (1 Peter 3:9).

These are biblical principles that go beyond personal interactions. At what point do we stop doing it God’s way.

Yes, God allows us to defend ourselves…but never to attack.

And, you can’t compare the Old Testament situations where God commanding Israel to what’s going on today because He was fulfilling a promise to give them the promised land.

Missiles and bullets can’t make a lunatic back down, but God can. God can change the heart and mind. At what point and time does it make sense to NOT do things God’s way?

Every successful king in the bible consulted a man of God before any military action. I wonder if our leaders are following that example.

MARRIAGE: ARE YOU CHEATING ON GOD? (‘Remix’ from my archives)

wp-image-5514092jpg.jpg INFIDELITY…It’s the universal act of betrayal that many, if not most, find it difficult to come back from.

No matter what country, religion or culture, infidelity marks the end of many relationships. It’s viewed as the ultimate proof that love is lost.

However, the ability to come back from infidelity may be the ultimate proof of real love.

How can I say that?

Because marriage is the analogy that God uses throughout the bible, not only to describe His relationship with Israel in Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Joel, Isaiah and Hosea, but also Christ’s (who represents the invisible God bodily) relationship with His church in Colossians,ย  Ephesians and Revelations. All of the aforementioned, Old Testament books are stories of Israel continually betraying God, only to have Him continually forgive them and take them back.

Israel loved God… but they continued to choose other God’s over Him.

Israel loved God… but they continued to reject His commandments.

Israel loved God…but they continued to live below His expectations and standards.

BUT, when they repented God always took them back. Notice that I kept saying Israel loved God. The fact that they betrayed Him doesnโ€™t mean they didnโ€™t love Him. It just means their love wasn’t perfect. When we hurt God and one another, it doesn’t always mean there’s no love…it just means our love isn’t perfect. But God’s love is perfect. That’s how He can continue to forgive our infidelity to Him. When we choose to sin, when we put others before Him, when we live below His expectations and standards…we’re CHEATING ON GOD. We’re no different than Israel…no different than Judas betraying Him…no different than Peter denying Him. But, when we truly repent, He’s always willing to forgive us. Remember repentance means Godly sorrow (2 Corinthians 7:10)… to turn from our wickedness( 2 Chronicles 7:14), not just ask forgiveness. God is always willing to take us back. See…God proves that real love even can forgive infidelity. When we’re willing to endure the pain, embarrassment, betrayal and despise the shame as Christ did on the cross for His bride (Hebrews 12:2), we’re acting just like our Heavenly Father. Now THAT’S conforming to His image. Is it easy? No! But, God proves it’s possible.

I encourage anyone who’s been betrayed, that if the offender is truly sorry, and the relationship is important enough to you (usually the more you love them, the more it hurts) then you should follow God’s example and forgive. He can give you strength you never had to restore and rebuild any relationship, not just a marriage. Remember this. After Israel sinned, they went through some rough days. But, God always promised renewed joy contingent on their faithfulness. When you forgive cheating.

When you forgive ANY betrayal in any relationship…things may not ever be THE SAME, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be BETTER.

It’s all about your attitude about the relationship and how important it is to you.

This is where the real power in…
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me ( Philippians 4:13) is realized.

This is where the real power in…
My strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9) is realized.

This is where the real power in…
And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you (Ephesians 4:32) is realized.

Forgive as God forgives us, over and over again (Matthew 18:22) …Enjoy your relationships…, even though your relationship with _________ may never be the same, doesnโ€™t mean it can’t be better. (Yes…I was redundant on purpose)

AREN’T YOU GLAD GOD ALLOWED SOME THINGS IN YOUR LIFE TO REMAIN SECRET…

wp-1472674791523.png
SHHHHHH

We know that Peter denied Christ, but that wasnโ€™t the only sin he committed. Peter committed many other sins, but we donโ€™t know what they were. God allowed them to remain secret.

Every personality God used in the bible committed some sins that God allowed to remain secret. Yes, we are supposed to confess our faults to one another (James 5:16), but that doesnโ€™t mean you have to tell ALL of your business in every detail. Some people will compel you to do so, not out of concern for you, but to satisfy their curiosity. Yes, some people are just nosey. There are some things that you have done, and truly repented, that no one knows about. You may have squandered money or relationships in your past, but now you aren’t that person anymore. You may have struggled with depression to the point you considered suicide, but you’re far beyond that now. You may have made some poor choices with your body, but that’s not you anymore. You may have had a problem with porn, but that’s now the last thing on your mind. Arenโ€™t you glad God allowed those things to remain secret?

The next time a public figure is exposed for something shameful, before you jump on the bandwagon of pointing a self-righteous finger…

Think of how thankful you are that God allowed your shameful moment(s) to be secret.

And, if youโ€™re presently involved in some shameful behavior…

STOP IT NOW!

Stop it before God makes you stop it. One sure way to make some shameful behavior stop is to expose it. Stop and give God some specific praise today if He has allowed some of your SECRETS to remain SECRET. Because not only is He a PROMISE KEEPER….HE’S a SECRET KEEPER TOO.

2 Corinthians 12:7-9
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. 8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He said to me, โ€œMy grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.โ€

7 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO PISS THE DEVIL OFF TODAY…

wp-image-245393964

Have you ever had someone get angry or aggravated at you for absolutely no reason? I mean you havenโ€™t done anything.

Or, have anyone ever gotten extremely angry at you for trying to do the right thing. For doing something good? For be a blessing to someone? For speaking the truth?

Why?

Think about the times that those who were being led by the enemy got angry when Jesus came around (Mark3:1-6, Luke 13:1). When He healed people. When He did good. Think of the opposition He encountered. They even sought to kill Jesus and Lazarus because Jesus raised him from the dead and they didnโ€™t want people to believe in Jesus because of that miracleโ€ฆ

John 12:9-10 (ESV)

ย 9ย When the large crowd of the Jews learned that Jesus[a]ย was there, they came, not only on account of him but also to see Lazarus,ย whom he had raised from the dead.ย 10ย So the chief priests made plans to put Lazarus to death as well,

Think of the reactions of the demons inside those they were possessing when Jesus came around. They were afraid, they were worried, they were restless, they were uneasy.

Matthew 8:29(NKJV)

29ย And suddenly they cried out, saying, โ€œWhat have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?โ€

ย Mark 9:20 ย (NKJV)

20ย Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.

Why were they angry, uneasy or afraid.

Because of the presence of Jesus! Demons tremble in the presence of Jesus…at the very mention of His name. The enemy getโ€™s upset in the presence of Jesus and those in whom He lives.

So, I encourage youโ€ฆ

Do something to piss the devil off today!

Here are 7 things you can do to please God while upsetting the devil.

1. WALK IN THE SPIRIT

Galatians 5:16-17 (NKJV)

16ย I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.ย 17ย For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

2. GLORIFY GOD ย WITH PRAISE

Psalm 22:3 (KJV)

3ย But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

3. FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD IN PRAYER

John 14:13-15 (NKJV)

13ย And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.ย 14ย If you ask[a]ย anything in My name, I will doย it.

4. READ AND STUDY THE WORD OF GOD

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)

12ย For the word of Godย isย living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

5. SHARE THE WORD OF GOD

Matthew 28:19-20 ย (NKJV)

19ย Go therefore[a]ย and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,ย 20ย teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always,ย evenย to the end of the age.โ€ Amen.[b]

6. SHARE THE LOVE OF GOD

ย John 13:34-35 (NKJV)

34ย A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.ย 35ย By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.โ€

7. RESIST AND IGNORE THE DEVIL

James 4:7(NKJV)

7ย Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

So, don’t be surprised, upset, disappointed or discouraged when your good is met with opposition. Let it be confirmation that you are pursuing your purpose and pleasing God.

BE BLESSTIFIED!

HOW TO FORGET A PAST THAT YOU CAN’T FORGET…

wp-1483190396732.jpgPhilippians 3:13 (NIV)
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,”

Forgetting the past…REALLY?

We are encouraged that in order to move forward that we must forget the past…but how?

It’s impossible to not think of things that hurt us? shameful things we did? painful days? Some of those things, when we’re honest with ourselves, we will always remember. So, why does Paul say, “forgetting the past?” How can you say you will never look back again? The key isn’t in not remembering, but how you remember. It’s not in not looking back, but why you look back.

HERE’S HOW

It’s your frame of mind!

Remember Lot’s wife? God allowed Lots family to escape the destruction of Sodom, but was warned to not look back. (Genesis 19:17). They were leaving behind an evil city. They were leaving behind friends, they were leaving behind belongings. The bible doesn’t say why she looked back, but why do we look back on something that we liked or enjoyed and are forced to suddenly leave it?

We sometimes look back with fondness and regret of leaving it behind. Paul used to persecute the church. It’s certain that he never ‘forgot’ those shameful days, so how could he say ‘forgetting the past’? The key is forgetting how you view the past. It’s forgetting your frame of mind. Paul didn’t look back fondly on his shameful days. In fact, his mind couldn’t see how he could have let himself behave that way. HE FORGOT HOW TO THINK THAT WAY!

Have you ever dated someone, or been in a relationship that at one time you felt you couldn’t live without that person? You were sooooo deep in love. But, after that relationship ended, suddenly one day you just didn’t feel that way anymore. You couldn’t even see, or remember how you felt so deeply in love with them.

You may even say, “I can’t even see what I saw in them”. Think about it and fill in the blank in this statement…”I can’t even see what I used to enjoy about________.”

See how you can remember your past and forget it at the same time?

When your frame of mind changes, the way you think about something, your attitude towards something changes…you have forgotten that aspect if your past. You CAN’T think of it that way any more, even if you try. It’s like a food or drink that you used to love, and now not only can you not stand the taste, but can’t remember how you once enjoyed it.That’s the essence of repentance. Repentance isn’t asking for forgiveness to avoid punishment, but it’s godly sorrow over what you’ve done, and committing to turn from that behavior (2 Corinthians 7:10), but that’s another lesson…coming soon:-) For now, see I told you that you can FORGET THE PAST.
Luke 17:32

HOW GOD’S DELIVERANCE HAS BEEN TAUGHT WRONG…

Addiction…

Alcoholism…

Lust…

Greed…

Lying…

Adultery…

Fornication…

Homosexuality…

People pray to God to deliver them and their loved ones from the sins that plague our lives and souls.

They want God to take away the desire…the taste…the longing…

Can God do this…Yes!

Did He promise to do this…No!

Too many times those in the church associate deliverance with God taking away the desire to sin, but He never promised to do that.

In the bible, deliverance means to rescue.

God does know how to rescue or snatch His people out of sinful situations…

2 Peter 2:9ย (NKJV)

9ย tย then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,

He rescued/delivered Israel from oppressors and enemies time and time again though out the Old Testament.

God delivered us from the power of sin through our Lord and Savior, Yeshua, Jesus Christ, but that does not take away the desire to sinโ€ฆ

Colossians 1:13 (NKJV)

13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

Think about Lot (Go back and read Genesis 19). God rescued Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot wasnโ€™t in a hurry to leave. He liked where he lived. The angel had to practically drag Lot away, and warned him and his family to not look back. Lot reluctantly left and was told to run after getting out of the city.

God rescued Lot, but did not take away his desire to be there.

God rescued Israel from Egypt, but they longed to go back.

God is a strong deliverer. He loves to rescue His people, but…

Asking God to take away our desire to sin is the easy way out!

There’s no love for Him in that…

There’s no devotion to Him in that…

There’s no commitment to Him in that…

There’s no relationship with Him in that!

What husband or wife wants to have to force his or her spouse stop wanting or desiring a serious rival? They want their spouse to reject them on their own.

That’s what God told us to do…

Colossians 3:8 (NKJV)

8 But now YOU YOURSELVES ARE TO PUT OFF all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

Ephesians 4:25 (NKJV)

25 Therefore, PUTTING AWAY LYING, โ€œLet each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,โ€[a] for we are members of one another.

Ephesians 4:31 (NKJV)

31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking BE PUT AWAY FROM YOUR, with all malice.

2 Corinthians 7:1(NKJV)

7 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, LET US CLEANSE OURSELVES from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV)

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, LET US LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT, AND THE SIN which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

God expects us to love Him enough to choose Him over our sin…not have Him conveniently take away our desire for it.

We do more harm than good when we give people the expectation God will take away their desire for their weakness.

That’s why people ‘go back’ after being snatched out.

The truth is that some people struggle with some sins all their lives with the help of God.

Yes, God can and does sometimes take away the desire, but only after we have truly lay it down ourselves.

Letโ€™s stop expecting God to do what the Lord has given us the responsibility to do ourselves.

WHEN PEOPLE LET ‘THE HOOD’ COME OUT OF THEM (READ BEFORE YOU JUDGE)…

wp-image-637418219.

Have you ever heard anyone say, โ€˜Don’t let me let the hood come out,โ€ โ€œi went straight to the ‘hood’ on ________,โ€ or โ€œDonโ€™t let me get ghetto on youโ€?

It usually refers to ‘going off. ‘Cussing out, or even kicking someone’s a**.

Why?

Why do so many of us associate THE HOOD or THE GHETTO with the worst in us?

There are good people in the hood.

There are people with self-control in the hood.

There are people with integrity in the hood.

Some of our richest cultural and spiritual influences have come from the hood.

It’s plenty of good mothers, fathers, grandparents and guardian doing their best to raise their children right in the hood.

It’s plenty of kids doing their best to stay on the right track in the hood.

It’s plenty of good churches doing real kingdom work in the hood.

Jesus was from ‘the hood’ in a sense. When the disciples heard about Him remember what Nathanael said…

John 1:46 ย (NKJV)

And Nathanael said to him, โ€œCan anything good come out of Nazareth?โ€

Philip said to him, โ€œCome and see.

It’s time we change the negative narrative about the hood. Its time we stop feeding it.

I’m not from the hood. I’m from the ‘country’ which has its own negative stereotypes. But, I proclaim to be unapologetically country.

So whether you be from the hood, live there now or never beenโ€ฆ donโ€™t let the negative speak louder than the positive.

When you say “Iโ€™m going to let THE HOOD come out”, embrace all the good about unique culture. Let it be the aboutโ€ฆ

Determinationโ€ฆ

Hard Workโ€ฆ

Loyaltyโ€ฆ

Devotion to Familyโ€ฆ

Perseveranceโ€ฆ

Faithโ€ฆ

Or, one of the many other positive aspects of โ€˜HOOD LIFEโ€™.

Let the world know there are plenty of GOOD TIMES in the hood.

4 REASONS WHY SINNING AT HOME IS JUST AS BAD AS IN PUBLIC…

wp-1493472826163.

Many times we hear people say, “What I do in my house is my business”. That’s true, but if it’s wrong…it’s wrong.

Think about the fact David committed his greatest sin while watching ‘soft porn’ at home (2 Samuel 11).

Notice how he affirms to behave at home in Psalm 101…

Psalm 101:1-3 (KJV)

I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, Oย Lord, will I sing. 2ย I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. 3ย I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

Yes, sinning ‘in the street’s’ affects others, but sinning at home alone can be more harmful than many may think.

How?

  1. SINNING CAN BECOME EASIER

When we become comfortable sinning alone, it makes committing that sin, and other sins easier.

  1. IT DEFIES OUR SPIRITS

God wants us to strive for holiness. That’s why He tells us to lay aside all filthiness and sin because it defiled our spirit.

2 Corinthians 7:1ย (NKJV)

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Remember, God’s Spirit wants to live in a clean ‘temple ( 1 Corinthians 6:19).

  1. IT MAKES OUR ‘HOUSE’ A COMFORTABLE PLACE FOR DEMONS

Piggybacking on #2, when our spirits are defiled, we make our bodies and spirits a comfortable place for demons to dwell. And, not just dwell, but thrive.Notice that Revelation 18:2 (KJV) called Babylon a ‘habitation’ for devils. Notice what Jesus said in Matthew 12…

Matthew 12:43-45ย (KJV)

43ย When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44ย Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45ย Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

We must make sure our spiritual and physical house comfortable for God and not the enemy. What we do or don’t do at home sets the atmosphere.

  1. EVEN THOUGH WE’RE ALONE, WE STILL HAVE AN AUDIENCE

Just because you’re in your house with the doors and blinds closed doesn’t mean you’re alone. You’re personal angel(s) watching…

Hebrews 1:14 (NKJV)

14ย Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

What has your angel(s) witnessed in your HOUSE?

Be just as careful, if not more careful of your behavior at home. Watch what you watch, listen to, say and do. Watch who you allow inside your house.

Sin at home led David to greater sin, and it can do the same to us.

And, please…please…please don’t ask God to leave only to invite a demon inside…(please click to read) DONโ€™T ASK GOD TO LEAVE FOR A DEMON TO COME INโ€ฆ

Relationships make our lives richerโ€ฆ.better. God created us because He wanted relationship with us.

As our relationships evolve, whether it be marriage, parent/child, siblings or friendsโ€ฆwe are also all evolving as individuals.

For example, If youโ€™ve been married any number of years, then neither of you are the same people you were when you first married.

The truth is some things get better, and some things donโ€™t.

There will always be some things, attitudes, behaviors, moods, etc., that you hateย about those who you love mostโ€ฆ.it doesnโ€™t mean you hate them.

In fact, daily living and lovingย beyond those things is what makes it love.

Think about Godโ€ฆdo you think He is always pleased with you?

ENJOY YOUR ANONYMITY!

wp-1485118827402.jpg

Many people in ministry can get caught up wanting to be famous, talked about, prominent or at least well known. But, God reminded me one day toย enjoy your anonymity. Enjoy your limited influence. Enjoy where God has you hedged from responsibility.

Becauseโ€ฆ

The more people that know your nameโ€ฆthe more demons know it too. Are you ready for that?

Acts 19:11-17(NKJV)

11ย Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul,ย 12ย so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.ย 13ย Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, โ€œWe[a]ย exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.โ€ย 14ย Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so.

15ย And the evil spirit answered and said, โ€œJesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?โ€

16ย Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered[b]ย them, and prevailed against them,[c]ย so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.ย 17ย This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

ย If God has you hidden for a season, make the most of it. Enjoy it. Study harder. Grow stronger. Prepare yourself because if you get the attention you seek wonโ€™t always be good, positive, rewarding or enjoyable.

RESPECT SOMEONE ELSE’S STRUGGLE/FEAR…

wp-1491654292334.
My struggle may not seem like much to you, but it’s HARD for me…

We all have struggles in our lives. Emotional. Psychological. Physical. Relational and, yesโ€ฆ Spiritual.

We all have fears.

Think about thisโ€ฆat any given time, on any given day, any given person that you encounter or even observe without their knowledge, is most likely struggling with something.

The truth is that we struggle with some issues and fears our entire lives.

What are you struggling with right now?

Hereโ€™s the interesting thing about struggles, trials, tests and fearsโ€ฆ

My struggle may not seem like much to you, but it’s HARD for me…

Someone who loves to fly may not understand your crippling fear of flying…YOUR FEAR VS YOUR FUTURE

Itโ€™s easy for someone else to say, โ€You shouldnโ€™t struggle with that.โ€ โ€œYou should be over that by nowโ€. โ€œThat wouldnโ€™t be a problem for meโ€. โ€œWhy canโ€™t you just move onโ€. โ€œYou donโ€™t have enough faithโ€. โ€œIf I were you I wouldโ€ฆโ€. “That’s no big deal”….And, sometimes they are right.

They may have even gone through the same thing. The same struggle. The same fear. The EXACT same thingโ€ฆbut they arenโ€™t you. Your levels of strength, faith, experience, endurance are not the same. You werenโ€™t raised the same. You werenโ€™t prepared the same. You have different strengths and weaknesses. You’ve had different challenges. Different โ€˜breaking pointsโ€™. Different levels of maturity. Everyoneโ€™s relationship with God is not the same.

Five children who read on the same grade level, may still all comprehend the same material on five different levels. We aren’t the same in areas that we are the same.

We can criticize Peter for denying Christ (Matthew 26:69-75). Judas for betraying Christ (Luke 22). Thomas for doubting Christย (John 20:24-29). The religious leaders for resisting Christ on challenging their traditions (Matthew 15:2). Many of His disciples for walking away because of how difficult His words seemed to them (John 6:60-71). Or, even the Jews and Romans for crucifying Him (Luke 23:21), but the truth be told, many of us would have done the same thing if we were living back then. How do I know? We can tell by our actions and attitudes today. For more on that click here to read…WOULD YOU HAVE SHOUTED HOSANNA OR CRUCIFY HIM?

So, Iโ€™m saying all that to say thisโ€ฆ

Letโ€™s respect one anotherโ€™s struggles and fears!

Please respect someone elseโ€™s struggle.

Be patient with them.

Donโ€™t judge them.

And most of all remind them how to overcome…

Philippians 4:13(NKJV)

I can do all things through Christ[a]ย who strengthens me.

BE BLESSTIFIED!!!

EXCUSE ME, PLEASE DON’T INTERRUPT!

Weโ€™ve all done it before!
Weโ€™ve walked up while people are already talking and butted in.

Maybe it was important, and maybe it wasnโ€™t. But, for us to interrupt, we are assuming that what we have to say is more important than what is already being said.

I’ve noticed interrupting to be very common in the office in which I work. Itโ€™s a Fortune 300 company, and almost daily I see those with the highest titles (VPs and up) feel most free to interrupt important conversations. It takes place in all organizations…even the church.

I think there’s a certain level of arrogance and entitlement that makes one feel comfortable enough to walk up and expect everyone else to drop everything because you want to talkโ€ฆeven if what you have to say is important.

No matter how important you may think you are, everyone deserves to be shown the same respect.

If you donโ€™t like being interrupted, then please donโ€™t interrupt others.

Remember what Jesus saidโ€ฆ

Matthew 7:12ย (NKJV)

Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Marriage: STRENGTH THROUGH a SONday SERENADE! 30 Years Strong!!!

SONday afternoons are our time! We wind down. We relax. We enjoy one another. We get ready for the coming week.

The coming week is sure to bring challenges.

We will have individual challenges…

We will have challenges as a couple.

The only thing we can do is be prepared. Yes, we have to be prayed up, but one of the main reasons we’ve been together for 30 years (as of September 25th) is that we make full use of one of the greatest benefits of marriage (which is also a benefit of friendship)…

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NKJV)

9ย Two are better than one,Because they have a good reward for their labor.
10ย For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.
But woe to him who is alone when he falls,
For he has no one to help him up.
11ย Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm;
But how can one be warm alone?
12ย Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

BE BLESSTIFIED

DOORS (from my archives)…

Doors. They provide access. They allow us to enter one environment while at the same time exit another. When closed, they keep things in and keep things out. We all want God to open doors for us to better things. We may even pray for God to open doors for us. Doors lead to the things we desire…

One day a man had to hurry in the bank before he picked up his daughter from school. He didn’t go to the bank his normal bank location because he decided to stop at the one closest to his daughter’s school. At 2:45 as he pulled up and read the sign on the door that said, “Open 8:30 – 5:00”. He pulled to open the door, and it was locked. He pulled again, and again. As he looked through the glass and through the lobby he could see the tellers behind the counter and became angry. “What are they doing?” “Bankers make me sick!” “They know it’s just 2:45!” ย “They see me out here!” Furious, he now shook the door violently. “Let me in you lazy…!” Suddenly, he saw someone come to the door and he began lecturing the employee as he rushed into the building when he noticed the employee locking the door back and felt someone aggressively grab his arm. The bank was being robbed!!! His daughter stood waiting for an hour before her horrified mother picked her up as they waited and hoped for hostages to be released.

We need to remember that some doors God has closed for a reason.ย

Some things you have your heart to do, some places you have your heart set to go, some people you have your heart set on, some jobs you have your heart set on, some loans you hope to get, even some things you sincerely want to do for God…are not meant for you.

Some things we want aren’t His will for us. 1 Chronicles 22:7,ย David states that it is in his heart to build a house for God, but that wasn’t God’s will for David. Acts 16:6,ย the Holy Spirit prevents Paul and his companions from going to Asia.

Sometimes people denying you access, ignoring your resume, ignoring your text messages is God keeping you from something that’s not for you. Sometimes people ignoring your gifts or choosing someone not as gifted is God’s way of getting you to move on to where you are meant to be.

We need to be very careful when we find ourselves trying to unlock and force our way into doors that God may have shut for a reason.

YOU’RE STILL BLESSED TO BE LAST…

puzzle-654957_1920

Who wants to be last?

Last in line.

Last on the list.

Chosen last for the team.

Last to be recognized.

Last to be seen at the doctorโ€™s office.

Last to be promoted.

Last to be heard.

Last to be healed.

Last to be delivered.

Last to get your breakthrough.

When was the last time that you were frustrated about being last?

I just want to give you a quick reminder. The next time that you get ready to complain about being last, remember thisโ€ฆ

Being LAST is better than being LEFT OUT!

For every person thatโ€™s LAST, there are countless others who were never chosen, never included, never consideredโ€ฆwho were LEFT OUT.

And, think about this. It’s the LAST piece of any puzzle that makes it complete.

Remember the beautiful promise that Jesus gaveโ€ฆ

Matthew 20:16 (NKJV)

So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.โ€

Can you think of a time that you were blessed to be last?

A REASON FOR US TO REASON…

wp-1476459629291.jpg

Remember this…

You don’t have to see things EYE to EYE, to listen EAR to EAR and connect HEART to HEART.

If God is willing to reason with usโ€ฆ

Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV)

18ย โ€œCome now, and let us reason together,โ€
Says theย Lord,
โ€œThough your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.

โ€ฆThen we should be willing to reason with one another.
